RO/ARO Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2025 – Complete Guide for Prelims & Mains

The RO/ARO exam is typically conducted in three stages:
1. Preliminary Exam
2. Mains Exam
3. Typing Test (for ARO post only)

1. Preliminary Examination

The Prelims exam is objective in nature and includes two papers:

Paper II      General Hindi                  60                   1 Hour

 

Total Marks: 200

Negative Marking: Applicable (typically 1/3rd)

Purpose: Screening only; marks not counted in final merit

2. Mains Examination

Candidates who qualify the Prelims are eligible for the Mains exam, which is descriptive:

Practice Hindi grammar, comprehension, and precis writing.
